Eugenia Roman & Emilia Marzi

Near the lagoon, a duck with artistic aspirations compiles a list of his favorite influences—Picasso, Da Vinci, Frida Kahlo, Matisse, and Dalí—and sets out to paint by imitating their most celebrated styles, one by one.

Yet every finished painting elicits the same verdict: “I don’t like it at all.” Neither Cubism, nor the Mona Lisa’s smile, nor Frida’s colors manage to capture what he is seeking—until the dejection born of such effort leads him, without realizing it, to paint using the only thing that is genuinely his own.
